{"id":23277,"date":"2013-05-13T14:49:55","date_gmt":"2013-05-13T18:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=23277"},"modified":"2013-05-13T20:48:52","modified_gmt":"2013-05-14T00:48:52","slug":"ollie-conover-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2013\/05\/ollie-conover-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Ollie Conover Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ollie passed peacefully at Hope Hospice on May 12, 2013<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23279\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23279\" style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23279\" title=\"ollie\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/ollie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"250\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23279\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ollie Conover<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Most of us knew Ollie Conover from the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce which he served as the Executive Director for seven years. But Ollie&#8217;s community and public service didn&#8217;t start with the Chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Ollie served in the Ordnance Corps in the U.S. Army and continued on to serve in the Reserves when his active duty service was completed.<\/p>\n<p>Ollie&#8217;s subsequent professional career spanned 22 years as an insurance agent and broker, and 25 years in non-profit fundraising for educational and cultural organizations. It&#8217;s this unique experience that made him well-suited to take the helm of the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce in 2002.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Since moving to Lehigh Acres, and serving with the Chamber, Ollie has made an indelible mark on a community that is growing by leaps and bounds. In fact, Ollie has joined a number of community officials and activists on the Lehigh Acres Community Planning Corporation to put together a master plan for controlling the substantial growth in the area. Ollie&#8217;s leadership and guidance on the issue of controlling Lehigh&#8217;s growth while expanding opportunities for residents and businesses will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Corporation, its members and the people of Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Ollie also severed on the board of Lehigh Community Service helping them in writing and presuming grants. Rae Nicely the Executive Director of LCS said in an email \u201cIt\u2019s very unfortunate and we have lost a very valuable board director and friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to friends of the family, Ollie\u2019s last wishes will be honored; there will be no memorial service at his request.\u00a0It was Ollie\u2019s decision that any donations be given to Lehigh Community Service 201 Plaza Drive Suite 3 Lehigh Acres, Fl. 33936<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to send condolences to his family: Bobby, Suzy Conover\/his niece, and his two boys.
