Publix received notification of the potential contamination from their supplier, Allison&#8217;s Gourmet Kitchens. Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad, UPC # 41415-39662, was distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Product was sold in pre-packaged 12 ounce containers, and this recall involves all product sold from December 2012 through March 26, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Consumption of products containing\u00a0<em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em>\u00a0can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety,&#8221; said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. &#8220;No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-242-1227, or visit our website at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.publix.com\/\">www.publix.com<\/a>.
