The Eagles improve to 8-7 on the season and 3-1 in A-Sun conference action. The Owls fall to 3-11 and 0-3 in conference play.<\/p>\n

In doubles, sophomore\u00a0Jordi Vives (Barcelona, Spain\/IES Ferran Tallada\/USC)\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>junior\u00a0Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky.\/Henry Clay HS)\u00a0<\/strong>defeated\u00a0\u00a0Menhofer and Theodor, 9-8 (1) in a thrilling doubles match in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 spot, the duo of\u00a0sophomore\u00a0Tianyu Bao (Tianjin, China\/Bayshore HS-FL)<\/strong>\u00a0and freshman\u00a0Dylan Gunning (Baca Raton, Fla.\/Olympic Heights HS)\u00a0<\/strong>helped win the doubles point for FGCU when they defeated the team of Yorsh and Kubin, 8-5. The Eagles dropped the No. 3 doubles, 8-5, to the team of Pena and Ozdemir.<\/p>\n In singles, the Eagles got swift victories Vives and Tsmas who both won in straight sets at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Bao, senior\u00a0Jackson Moore (Bradenton, Fla.\/Lakewood Ranch HS\/Georgia State)<\/strong>\u00a0and junior\u00a0Lance Lvovsky (Dania, Fla.\/Broward Virtual School\/Jacksonville)<\/strong>\u00a0all picked up victories for FGCU needed three sets to do so. Bao won the third set easily, 6-2 after dropping the second set 5-7. Moore and Lvovsky both needed three sets to defeat their respective opponents after they both dropped the first set. Gunning was the only FGCU player to be defeated in singles play, losing to Pena in three sets after winning the first set (4-6, 6-3, 10-3).<\/p>\n As a team, the Green and Blue have gone a combined 26-9 over the last eight matches.<\/p>\n FGCU will be return to Fort Myers next week for home matches against USC Upstate and No. 73 ETSU.
