Coming off two Atlantic Sun Conference victories last week at home, the FGCU men\u2019s tennis team was handed their first conference loss as they fell to Mercer, 4-3, on Friday night in Macon, Ga.<\/p>\n
The Eagles move back to .500 at 7-7 on the season and 2-1 in A-Sun conference action. The Bears improve to 3-10 this season and even their A-Sun record to 1-1. The last three meetings with Lipscomb have been decided by a 4-3 margin, all going in favor for the Bison. The Eagles came out strong tonight; winning all three doubles matches to win the doubles point and won the first four singles matches.<\/p>\n
In doubles, sophomore\u00a0Jordi Vives (Barcelona, Spain\/IES Ferran Tallada\/USC)\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>junior\u00a0Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky.\/Henry Clay HS)\u00a0<\/strong>were defeated by Pagan and Tacuchner, 8-5, in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 spot, the duo of sophomore\u00a0Tianyu Bao (Tianjin, China\/Bayshore HS-FL)<\/strong>\u00a0and freshman\u00a0Dyaln Gunning (Baca Raton, Fla.\/Olympic Heights HS)\u00a0<\/strong>were beat by the Mohanty brothers, 8-2 with Mercer taking the doubles point. In singles, Lvovsky took the first singles point for FGCU when he defeated Brown in a decisive 6-1, 6-2 straight set. The Green and Blue picked up its second singles point when Vives defeated Strecker 6-0, 6-2 in the top spot of singles play.<\/p>\n In singles, the Eagles got victories from its top three competitors.
