<\/a>Faith Lutheran Church Sanctuary Choir in conjunction with the choirs from 1st\u00a0Presbyterian Church, St. Anselm Episcopal Church, the Church of God of Prophesy, Liberation Outreach international and Buckingham Presbyterian Church will present a brand new choral work by Mark Hayes.\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Hayes is a well respected and very prolific American composer, who was just recently conducting a chorus in Naples, FL.\u00a0\u00a0His piano jazz arrangements of gospel songs are renowned and used by many church musicians around the country.<\/p>\nThis new work, \u201cThe Power of the Cross,\u201d is a prism through which we view unfolding events of Holy week with grateful humility.\u00a0\u00a0We see that the cheers that fill Jerusalem streets will soon turn to jeers; that the faithful disciples who gather with Jesus at the Lord\u2019s Supper include one who will betray Him, and that, even as Jesus struggles in Gethsemane, ultimately He will surrender to God\u2019s purpose for Him: \u201cYour will be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
The combined choirs will perform this amazing work two times, on March 17th\u00a0at 4:30pm at Buckingham Presbyterian Church, 4241 Buckingham Road, just north of \u201cThe Hut\u201d and the \u201cBuckingham Bar\u201d approximately one mile on the right.\u00a0\u00a0The second performance will be on March 24th\u00a0at 4:30pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 705 Leeland Heights Boulevard East.\u00a0\u00a0Members of the featured quartet are Candace Baranowski Sundby, La Von Koenig, David Sundby and Rev. Dr. Randy Moody.\u00a0\u00a0A special Mezzo soprano solo entitled \u201cPieta\u201d will be sung by Christine Bronson \u2013 who has a large local following.\u00a0\u00a0The narrators for these productions will be Rev. Walter Fohs and Richard Anglickis.\u00a0\u00a0The choir directors are Dennis Lewis, Candace Sundby, Julian Sundby Janice Boucher and Jim Kreger.\u00a0\u00a0Grace Shuga is the accompanist.\u00a0\u00a0Leonard Mlejnek will be playing various percussion instruments and Peter Heubeck and George Unverzagt will join the ensemble for the Faith Lutheran performance.<\/p>\n
Liturgical dancers from the Church of God of Prophesy will take us down the road into Jerusalem along with the crowds.\u00a0\u00a0This award winning group will dance during the Pieta solo depicting the mother of Jesus concerned greatly about her Son, Jesus.<\/p>\n
There is no charge for these events.\u00a0\u00a0However, you may need to come early to get good seats.\u00a0\u00a0Parking is plentiful at both churches and there is room for buses as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
