At each meeting, community members can interact with school board members, administrators and residents, all working together to create a new Strategic Plan for the District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs board members representing citizens, this is a great opportunity to go into communities and listen,\u201d said Board Chair Mary Fischer. \u201cIt enables us to hear from them on their terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The meetings, which start on Monday, will include a brief overview of the community survey followed by table discussions on District goals and priorities.\u00a0 Topics include:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>School Safety and Discipline<\/p>\n<p>Academic Achievement<\/p>\n<p>School Choice\/Neighborhood Schools<\/p>\n<p>Parent Involvement, Community Engagement and Communications<\/p>\n<p>Preparing Students for College and Careers<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be asked what they think the goals and priorities should be for the District, how to achieve the goals and, if necessary, how to pay for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to learn from our community what they feel should be the priorities and goals for our schools,\u201d said Dr. Burke, Superintendent. \u201cBy working together, we can ensure higher achievement for our students and our schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The District hopes by providing these meetings in more localized, inviting formats, more community members will want to be involved and help shape the future of Lee County Schools.
