Fire Authorities say having a plan for brush fires is just as important as your hurricane plan.<\/p>\n<p>As the Florida Forest Service clears the neighboring lot full of vegetation, it&#8217;s also pretty clear; brush fire season is heating up in Southwest Florida.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Controlled burns help out fire crews by reducing the risk of the wildfire spreading; but when the weather becomes too dry, and then it&#8217;s up to the homeowner to help out.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why local fire departments will be rolling out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildlandfirersg.org\/learn\/index.cfm?navItemNumber=500\">&#8216;Ready, Set, Go&#8217;<\/a> action plan for wildfires.<\/p>\n<p>The program includes a checklist of what you can do to ready your home&#8211;clear brush 30 feet around. Get set to activate your evacuation plan if a brush fire is approaching.
