In Haiti, pigeon peas are called Pois Congo, because they originated from Africa, mainly from the country of Nigeria. The pigeon peas from Lily&#8217;s garden came from Fajardo, Puerto Rico where arroz con gandules (pigeon peas and rice) meal is a &#8220;must&#8221; side dish for holidays and special events.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>4-H Meeting:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe 4-H will meet from\u00a0<strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">5:30p to 6:30p<\/span><\/strong>. Ms. Lillian Nieves will speak to the 4-H from 6:15pm to 6:30pm on\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span>Thursday, January 17th in the Veterans Park Recreational Building, 55 Homestead Road South<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span>Members require a once-in-a-lifetime membership fee of $10 per person to Veterans Park after one free &#8220;trial&#8221; visit.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span>4-H youth membership is $1 to cover secondary health insurance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>Regular Meeting:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe regular Lehigh Acres\u00a0Edible\u00a0Gardening Exchange meeting will start at\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>7:00p<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0on Thursday, January 17th in the Veterans Park Recreational Building, 55 Homestead Road South. There is no fee for the Lehigh Acres\u00a0EdibleGardening Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>A raffle ticket is provided to members that bring an item to exchange whether it be seeds, cuttings, plants, fruit, veggies, or a healthy drink or snack.
