6th Street SW and Sunshine Boulevard<\/a>.<\/p>\nAccording to LCSO a white Lexus SUV was traveling northbound on Sunshine when the pedestrian was trying to cross the street between 6th and 7th Streets.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigations show that the adult female driver failed to see the pedestrian crossing the street because it was dark and the victim was wearing dark clothing. There are no street lights in the area.<\/p>\n
The driver says she saw him at the last minute and she tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, but he struck the right front corner of the SUV and sent him into her windshield.<\/p>\n
The victim has been identified. He lives in the neighborhood where the accident occurred. His name will be released pending notification of his next of kin.<\/p>\n
FHP is working to notify the victim’s family and find out why he was walking down the street. They say the driver does not appear to be at fault at this time, but charges could still be filed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
