\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The fourth annual Holiday Bear Hug is\u00a0collecting entries now through Dec. 19.\u00a0Leading community businesses and individuals have embraced this holiday event. \u00a0Participants are asked to visit Build-A-Bear Workshop at Coconut Point Mall where they will receive a 10% discount on their creation. Bring the bear to Holiday Inn Ft. Myers Airport to display your company\u2019s \u201cHoliday Bear Hug\u201d. Bear builders will present their creations to judges during a\u00a0celebration on Dec. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. \u00a0Celebrity judges will present awards\u00a0to the most original, most creative, and most huggable bears.\u00a0Enjoy complimentary hors d\u2019oeuvres and cash bar.\u00a0\u00a0Thirty to forty donated bears\u00a0will be presented to patients at our children\u2019s hospital on Dec. 20 as Christmas presents.\u00a0\u00a0A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0For several years the Naples Christian Academy Praise Team has been providing a delightful Christmas concert at HealthPark Medical Center.\u00a0 The elite 14 student musical group consists of guitars, bass, xylophone, hand bells, steel drums, and keyboard, and \u00a0is\u00a0scheduled to perform\u00a0Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. for pediatrics, and 12 p.m. in the atrium.\u00a0 Every year\u00a0people stop to listen and dance to the music in the atrium\u00a0as these students give of their talent to brighten someone else’s day.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s natural to want to give during this season.\u00a0 Playing traditional carols to popular toe tapping sing-a-long songs is an easy way to share and bring smiles to a hospital atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lee Memorial Health System Military Support is collecting donations of goods for a group of 200 soldiers stationed in Afghanistan who are desolate and living without electricity.\u00a0 These soldiers will be roughing it for the holidays as they protect our freedom to feast on holiday dinners and slumber in warm beds.\u00a0 Donations of coffee, cookies, toiletries, magazines, pens, and other non-perishable\u00a0items are being collected until Nov. 30th.\u00a0 Written letters thanking the soldiers are also welcome.\u00a0\u00a0A group of\u00a0volunteers will gather on Dec. 4th\u00a0to prepare and ship packages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
