At that time, LeeTran improved service to Lehigh by dedicating two vehicles to\u00a0Route 110 between Edison Mall and Homestead Plaza, and a third vehicle to circulate within the community\u00a0on new Route 515.<\/p>\n<p>By adding the third vehicle and splitting the route into two pieces, LeeTran was able to reduce the time between buses and make better connections with other routes at Edison Mall.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh improvements were part of a system-wide overhaul designed to improve efficiency and better assign service to high demand areas. These improvements, along with volatile gas prices, have led to record-breaking ridership numbers for the transit agency.\u00a0Since the start of the county\u2019s fiscal year in October 2011,\u00a0ridership\u00a0is up 17.7% from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>LeeTran operates 21 bus routes throughout the county, including service to Collier County (the LinC Route 600) and trolley service to Fort Myers Beach.
