Clinic Helps the Uninsured"},"content":{"rendered":"

\"\"<\/a>The Compassionate Care Clinic in Lehigh Ares opened a year ago. Since then the clinic has scheduled more than 550 doctor visits.<\/p>\n

The clinic is celebrating its one year anniversary. The community’s support has allowed the clinic to get this far, but more than 100 people sit on a waiting list in need of health care.<\/p>\n

“You can’t work in health care and not see those who are under served. It’s terrible to see they have no access to health care,” said Dr. Stephen Schroering, President of Lee County Volunteers in Medicine.<\/p>\n

“We have a waiting list with people who have called and are waiting to come in and see a doctor,” said Andrea Kuzbyt, executive director of Lee County Volunteers in Medicine.<\/p>\n

The clinic on Lee Blvd. in Lehigh Acres is the only place in Lee County the uninsured can go to receiving care completely for free. To qualify, you must live in Lee County, be uninsured and meet income requirements. For example a family of 3 must make as little as $3,182 a month. A family of 6 must make as little as $5,162 a month. The clinic is operated by Lee County Volunteers in Medicine.<\/p>\n

The clinic needs even more volunteers and donors to keep things running, said Kuzbyt.<\/p>\n
