Geekin’ Around

Bill Phelps is the owner and operator of Dancin’ Geek to Geek, an on-site computer repair and information management service for individual users and small business. Phelps is a computer geek with more than 40 years of experience in everything from mainframe to tablets and smart phones.

He spent 20-years in the military (1973-1993) doing, among other things:

  • Technical Training at the United States Air Force School of Applied Cryptologic and Cartographic Sciences (USAFSACS) at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, Texas in the 6941st School Squadron. Where I received training in subjects such as Air Navigation, Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Propagation Theory, Political Theory, International Relations, Codes and Ciphers. This training took place before the advent of the personal computer and accusable computer equipment so calculations were done on a dead reckoning computer, slide rule, with a legal pad and a stubby pencil. Graduated from the school as a Communications Analyst Specialist, with United States Air Force Security Service (USAFSS), Electronic Security Command (ESC) and in this role experienced many unclassified assignments.

There were other things Phelps did, but they’re still classified, so if told, he and you would both be in deep trouble with the National Security Act, so don’t ask in order to stay out of a Federal Prison.

When the powers-that-were blessed Phelps with a Top Secret Special Compartmentalized Information clearance with an Extended Background Check (TS/SCI/EBI), he was informed, “Of course you know, you’re never going to get a passport or be able to leave the country, right?”

“Except this brown cover and places you send me, right?”

“You have to fly on a US flag carrier and you weren’t there, you were never there, it never happen and if anybody asks–you’re a cook.”

He’s also a member of the Gulf Coast Writers’ Association and a Lifetime member of the VFW.
