Charlotte Elaine Coley is facing a charge of cruelty to a child. Coley is facing child abuse charges after deputies say she hit a 5-year-old child with a hanger for not doing his homework. Coley was charged Wednesday and has since been released from the Lee County Jail.
Deputies say the child told staff at his school his mother hit him with a hanger for not completing his homework.
The child had bruising to his legs, arms, neck and both sides of his face, including to his ear, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report. Investigators were notified of 15 different bruises on the child that were consistent with the shape of a hanger.
