Valerie Adams is trading her ice cream scoop for wings; she is joining the U.S. Air Force.
Military recruiters in Fort Myers say recruiting is holding steady, despite much tougher requirements for enlistees.
“I am kind of patriotic; I am very excited to serve my country. I know people who have joined the military say, there is no feeling quite like it,” said 21-year-old Valerie Adams.
She is joining the Air Force, after working in recent years at the Country Style Ice Cream Shop.
“I know it’s a huge change of life for me, but I am excited. Nervous too, but mostly ready to make something bigger and better of my life,” said Adams.
She leaves soon for basic military training in Texas, and then a four-year commitment in the Air Force. She says she may try to make a career of the military, if she likes it.
