21 elementary school students on bus that crashed

Nearly two dozen elementary school students were aboard a school bus when it collided with another vehicle, sending one person to the hospital.

Rob Spicker, spokesperson for the Lee County School District, said 21 students were on the bus when it crashed in the area of Grant and Eisenhower boulevards, in Lehigh Acres.

The cuts and bruises some of them experienced did not require emergency transport to the hospital, Spicker said.

“A couple of parents did advise us they would take their child to a doctor as a precaution,” Spicker said in an emailed statement. “The remainder were either taken home by their parents or picked up by another bus and taken to school.”

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said on X that the crash sent one person to Gulf Coast Medical Center, in Fort Myers, as a trauma alert patient.
