
The School District of Lee County will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new pre-K center at G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 1200 Homestead Road N. in Lehigh Acres. The new building will be the district’s second expanded pre-K center to help students prepare for their K-12 education. The 30,000-square-foot building includes 20 classrooms, offices, and support space for more than 200 4-year-old students. The total project cost is $18.5 million. Construction will be completed in spring 2024 with the first students expected to attend classes in August 2024.
