State Representative Spencer Roach said he was in his home’s nursery when he spotted broken glass on the floor.

A closer inspection revealed what looked like a bullet hole through his double-paned window. He then glanced across the room past a baby’s changing table and noticed a hole in the wall of his home.

He knew something bad had happened and alerted Lee County deputies, who quickly arrived on the scene, and after confirming it was a bullet that had entered his home, they taped off the North Fort Myers property with crime scene tape and began looking for evidence.
Roach confirmed that after several hours on scene, deputies were able to discover a bullet lodged in the wall of his nursery, a room he uses to foster children from SWFL.

Although no children were in the home at the time, Roach called and said the discovery had left him shaken.
Roach isn’t sure when the bullets were fired or who may have fired them. His neighbors said they’ll be paying closer attention after hearing about the incident.
Just 18 months ago, someone fired a bullet into Roach’s North Fort Myers office, but an investigation revealed it was a firearms class in a nearby building that resulted in a gun accidentally firing into Roach’s office. He was not there at the time of the incident.
Has all of this given Roach pause to reconsider life in politics?
“I think about that all the time. There are many days when I ask myself when you look at the public views we take and very low pay, and the tremendous amount of work we do both in Tallahassee and at home. Is it worth it? I’ll keep doing this until I think I’m not making a difference anymore,” Roach concluded.
