It all started with the revving of an engine. On this particular Saturday night, a Silver Infiniti G35 and Acura RSX were looking to put their wheels to the test.

Traveling north on U.S. 41 at around 10:15 p.m., the pair of speedsters made a right onto Six Mile Cypress Parkway and wasted little time to begin their race. As the pair of vehicles passed Six Mile Crossings Boulevard, the start of their heat was underway — with no finish line in sight.
Assuming they were in the clear, both drivers quickly shut off all of their vehicle lights and accelerated at high speeds. The oblivious racers were zooming neck and neck, all while a detective with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) followed from afar.
A stoplight at the Metro Parkway intersection made the illegal event a bit more clustered. After a brief pit stop, the race resumed and both drivers dangerously swerved around traffic.
The drivers’ menacing antics would continue across Lee County until an undercover LCSO detective was able to pull over the Infiniti driver at Daniels Parkway and Gateway Boulevard.
According to LCSO, the driver was identified as 26-year-old Jesus Rosa and a 2-year-old child was also in the vehicle.
The Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted and Rosa’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
Rosa faces a charge of racing on a street or highway. He has since been released from jail.
