The historical “Cookie” “Nickel” or Welcome to Lehigh Sign is being updated

What’s Going on in Lehigh Acres….

The Lehigh Acres MSID gained signage powers in 2018, in 2021, we unveiled a new welcome to Lehigh Acres sign closer to Lehigh Acres’ boundaries of Lee Blvd and Leonard Blvd. The signs are paid for through a fund of alternative revenue – meaning no taxpayer dollars.

The historical “Cookie”, “Nickel” or Welcome to Lehigh Sign as it may be known at Homestead Road has been owned and maintained by Lee County Government. The is a central focal point and identity to the Lehigh Acres community and was left tattered for some time; we asked the county to give our agency the sign for ownership and maintenance and the transfer was completed on March 15, 2022, The Board felt it best to make immediate minor improvements while discussing what to do long term. Several public meetings were held, and social media polls and surveys were conducted to see how the sign should be improved upon long term. By, a large margin, the community weighed in on changing the design.
