Illegal dumping is leaving residents frustrated

Residents in Lehigh Acres are urging police to crack down on people who they say have been illegally dumping trash and debris in their neighborhood for months.

“Install cameras, maybe patrol a little bit more, arrest people, definitely find them definitely…and a high fine because I mean there’s a dump. You just take it to a dump,” Rhonda Moore said.

The community said mysterious people are dumping massive piles of trash at night. At places next to the street and in the tree line.

“There’s lots of plywood and all sorts of things that look flammable. There are nails, and there’s who knows what in here like I said, I walk my dog, and it just can’t be good for the environment. It’s just not nice to see in the place you live,” Amelia Martinez-Tiberi said.

“I don’t know where these people come from, you know maybe it’s a third world country maybe that’s how they live there, but this is America, this is the United States mean just please don’t dump,” Moore said.

Several people said they’ve reported it, and the trash will get picked up… but then it happens again.

“There’s just no consequences because it keeps happening. It’s a big problem here, and I feel like we get neglected sometimes with things like this,” Martinez-Tiberi said.
