Man arrested on numerous charges after vehicle speeds and crashes Mercedes into a power pole

A man is facing a plethora of charges, including robbery and hit and run, after Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers spotted a Mercedes speeding down Leonard Blvd. and Gunnery Rd.

Maliek Petit-Homme, 21, was in a Mercedes along with two other people on Friday afternoon, according to FHP.

The trio was spotted driving at a high rate of speed in Lehigh by a trooper. The vehicle lost control and collided with a power pole, FHP said.

According to the report, Petit-Homme and the two others involved ran from the scene.

Petit-Homme was caught by Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies, FHP said.

According to LCSO and FHP, he was charged with the following:

  • Robbery (no firearm or weapon)
  • Resisting officer (obstruction without violence)
  • 2 Hit and runs (leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property)
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license
  • 2 charges of drug possession of controlled substances without a prescription
  • Drug possession and/or use
  • Marijuana possession
