2 drivers arrested for racing down SR-82 in Lehigh Acres

Two drivers were arrested after the Florida Highway Patrol says they were pulled over for separate instances of racing on SR-82 in Lehigh Acres on Thursday night and Sunday morning.

According to FHP, a trooper saw two vehicles speeding at 110 mph in a 55 mph zone on SR-82 at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday. in the area of Alabama Road. One of the vehicles, an Acura RSX, was pulled over for the violation. The driver, 20-year-old Tony Nguyen-Dinh, of Cape Coral, was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of reckless driving and racing on highways. Released on $3000 bond.

One of the vehicles, a Honda Accord, was pulled over for the violation. The driver, 20-year-old D’Quaryan Elijah Byrd, of Fort Myers, was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of reckless driving, racing on highways, and additional offenses. Released on $6000 bond.

FHP reminds all drivers that people who drive recklessly and race are subject to enhanced penalties, including license suspensions, increased fines, stiffer penalties if a serious injury or death is involved and vehicle impoundment.
