Lehigh Acres Fire is calling this “a historical day for the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District.”
We’re calling this irresponsible!!!! Lehigh Acres taxpayers demand the highest level of service and not Basic Life Support (BLS) transport units.
Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District is so proud to announce that our BLS response program officially launched. Rescue 114, their first Basic Life Support (BLS) transport unit.

Rescue 114 is not staffed with a Paramedic, but with credentialed EMTs.
According to the Fire Chief, “The BLS program will allow us to keep additional rescues in service at all times and will decrease the wait time for an Advanced Life Support Unit (ALS) by not tying them up on BLS calls.”
Fire Chief is calling this an enhancement of services!
How is this an enhancement of services to the community of Lehigh Acres, then the fire department is going backward in time?
This is a staffing/employment issue … Lehigh Acres Fire does not have enough Paramedics. The Fire Chief wants more stations but can’t hire the right staff for those stations and now the fire department is 30 million dollars in debt.
