Fisher’s clients were high school gang members.
Lee County Sheriff’s detectives arrested 14 teens and adults alleged to be gang members this week as the result of a sting operation targeting the online promotion and recruitment of criminal organizations on social networking sites like myspace.com.
A new state statute put into effect by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum makes it a third-degree felony to promote gangs electronically, as well as stiffens penalties of other gang-related crimes.
The statute allowed the Sheriff’s Office to make the arrests based on hundreds of hours of planning and investigation by their Gangs and Intelligence Units during “Operation Firewall.”
Fisher even tried to get a Judge to change the law in a 31-page brief to dismiss. (see below)
How does make him a proper candidate for the Lee County School board?
Endorsed by the Governor? Did the Governor know about Fisher’s activities with gang members?
According to the article, Lee County Schoolboard candidate Sam Fisher not only represented a dangerous gang member, but tried to abolish a statute fighting gang violence. Fortunately, the Court rejected his motion to destroy the anti-gang statute. We don’t need a person like this on the schoolboard.
Unlike the Lee County GOP Chair & Vice Chair, I supported DeSantis in the GOP primary against Putnam. DeSantis and I are both fellow JAGs. I will vote for DeSantis again. But DeSantis was WRONG to endorse Sam Fisher. The Governor was lied to by the Lee County political machine.
