Two-vehicle collision in Lee County kills driver from Lehigh Acres

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Lee County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:38 am a sedan driven by a 27-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was traveling south on McGregor Boulevard, north of Cypress Lake Drive, in the left lane. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 39-year-old Cape Coral man was traveling north on McGregor Boulevard, south of Cypress Lake Drive, in the left lane.

For an unknown reason, the sedan crossed the median at the intersection of Cypress Lake Drive, entered the northbound lane, and collided head-on with the pickup.

The sedan came to rest on northbound McGregor Boulevard. The pickup came to rest on the median of McGregor Boulevard.

The sedan driver was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The driver of the pickup truck reported minor injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
