Did you know that five West Point cadets recently overdosed on Fentanyl during Spring break here in Florida?

Police reported last Friday that six West Point cadets in Fort Lauderdale were hospitalized after overdosing on Fentanyl. Lt. Col. Beth Smith, the West Point director of public affairs and communications reported that only 5 of the individuals involved in the overdose were actual cadets from the military academy.

The Fort Lauderdale fire-rescue battalion chief, Steve Gollan, stated to reporters that after two victims collapsed from use of Fentanyl, two others became ill while trying to give them CPR, from residue on their bodies.
“Narcan was deployed as quickly as possible…this is extremely alarming to us, there were multiple people in cardiac arrest in the front yard”- Golan told reporters.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent.”
