Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno confirmed this started as a home invasion on 28th Street SW. Officials confirmed the suspect robbed a construction site and pistol-whipped multiple victims.
A suspect led deputies on a chase and there was a crash found next to one of the scenes on Gerald Avenue North. Sheriff Marceno said the driver hit two cars and almost hit a school bus. The driver also hit a mailbox and ran into a Gerald Avenue tree.
K9 units were tracking both trails when a driver called police while following the suspect vehicle.

Sheriff Marceno said a deputy pitted the suspect’s vehicle to end the chase.
The one suspect that was taken into custody has over 40 arrests and is considered violent. The sheriff also said three others who were involved have been detained, and there could be more suspects.
