A Lehigh Acres man caused a three-car crash while experiencing a medical episode that killed him, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Troopers said the 57-year-old man was headed south on Treeline Road near Terminal Access Road near Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers about 1:40 p.m. Monday.
He failed to slow, crashing into a car driven by a 38-year-old Bonita Springs woman. She sustained minor injuries.
The man’s car then rear-ended a car driven by a 60-year-old Fort Myers woman, troopers said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where officials declared him dead.
He is one of the first two Lee County road fatalities of 2022. Both occurred on Monday, three days into the year.
