The father of the 18 month old injured in February after accidentally shooting himself in the abdomen at has been charged with culpable negligence.
Karl Graf was formally charged Wednesday and has since been released from the Lee County Jail on a bond.
Jacob Graf was taken to the hospital by his father on Feb. 14 after he was found covered in blood with a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and a wound to his upper left leg, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Deputies responded to Lehigh Regional Medical Center just after 7 p.m. and met with Karl Graf, who said he was cooking dinner when he heard a loud boom coming from a bedroom.
Graf, who said his son shot himself with a handgun, grabbed the toddler and took him to the hospital for treatment. The incident occurred at a residence on 25th Street SW.
The sheriff’s office said the toddler survived the incident.
