December Programs at East County Regional Library

Next month’s roster of activities at East County Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

East County Craft Club: Tassel Earrings

2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4

Create your own unique DIY tassel earrings. This program is intended for ages 18 and up. Registration is required.

Book Discussion: “The Good Sister” by Sally Hepworth

3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6

Twin sisters who are polar opposites but harbor a deep, dark secret about their sociopathic mother must face the consequences of both her actions and their own when one tries to start a family.

Knit and Stitch

5 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 8, 22

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

Master Gardeners of Lee County: Composting

2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9

Join us for a special presentation by the Master Gardeners of Lee County about composting.

Geocaching

1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11

Enjoy geocaching at your library. This event is open to all levels of geocaching experience, from first-timer to expert. Geocaching, a treasure hunting sport using GPS-enabled devices, is family friendly and fun.

Naturalization (Bilingual English/Spanish)

6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13

A U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officer will explain the process of naturalization. Free study materials and resources will be provided and a question and answer session will follow.

Un funcionario de los Servicios de Ciudadaní e Inmigración de los Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés) explicará el proceso de naturalización. Se proporcionarán materiales de estudio y recursos gratuitos y se realizará una sesión de preguntas y respuestas.

Children’s Programs

Baby Rhyme Time

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Preschool Storytime

10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Bubble Dance Party

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8

Families with children through age 5 are invited to dance, sing and play with bubbles.

Family Winter Craft

11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18

Families are invited to join us for an early afternoon of winter themed arts and crafts.

Kids Read Down Fines

4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 2, 9, 16

1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Join us for winter themed arts and crafts while socializing with friends after school.
