Prison Sentence for Murder

Frank Lewis Brown, 29, of Lehigh Acres, was adjudicated guilty, and sentenced to 20 years in prison, for Second Degree Murder with a Firearm. He was also sentenced to 5 years in prison for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and 15 years in prison for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The sentences are to be served concurrently. Brown pled no contest to the crime just before a jury was to be selected for trial this morning.

The crime happened on August 6, 2017, on South Street in Fort Myers. Officers with the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a report of multiple shots fired. A man had been shot multiple times, while in the backseat of a car, as it was backing out of a driveway. The shooter had been hiding in nearby bushes. The victim died on the scene. The Fort Myers Police Department began an investigation leading to Brown being arrested.

Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller and Assistant State Attorney Alyssa Wolf prosecuted the case.
