Alonzo Jacquanne Russell, 22, of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty as charged of Fleeing to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer at High Speed or with Wanton Disregard and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer without Violence.

The jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial in Lee County. On April 15th, 2020, a Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed an altercation near a roadway in Fort Myers.
Two men got into a Cadillac Escalade and fled the scene. The vehicle was then driven erratically to evade law enforcement. When the vehicle stopped, Russell, the driver, jumped out and ran. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office quickly apprehended him and took him into custody.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 28th. Assistant State Attorney Bryce Becker prosecuted the case.
