Did you know that a Duval County teacher has been fired for refusing to remove a Black Lives Matter banner from the wall outside her classroom and for also teaching “critical race theory”?

According to Action News Jax, Amy Donofrio was terminated from her Language Arts teacher position at Robert E. Lee High School for – “as Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran described—having ‘an entire classroom memorialized to Black Lives Matter.’” Apparently, Ms. Donofrio refused to take down her BLM banners and stop teaching “critical race theory” as was ordered by Governor Ron DeSantis banning CRT from all schools across Florida.
DeSantis announced recently that his administration will spend approximately $106 million to fund civics education titled the “Florida Civil Seal of Excellence.” DeSantis promised a $3000 bonus for teachers completing the training.
DeSantis also stated regarding critical race theory, “It’s…based on false history…When they try to look back and denigrate the founding fathers, denigrate the American Revolution, doing all these different things that even very liberal historians say is not supported by the facts. So, I think what we need is we need the constitution back in the classrooms, we need to make sure civics is a priority, but it needs to be taught accurately. It needs to be taught in a fact-based way, not an ideological way.”
