Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers increases reward for information about Lehigh Acres murder

The reward for information about the murder of 25-year-old Kyle Byrtus has been increased to nearly $10,000, said Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

Byrtus’s body was found in Lehigh Acres in 2013 and investigators said they have still not tracked down his murderer after nearly eight years.

Authorities said Byrtus was a high school cross country stand-out who turned to drugs when he went off to college. Investigators believe his lifestyle after he was introduced to narcotics ultimately led to his murder.

SWFL Crime Stoppers have increased the initial reward for information leading to an arrest from $3,000 to $9,500.

They say the reward will be available through June 30, 2021.

Anyone with information on Byrtus’s murder is asked to call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. All callers will be anonymous.
