Country’s No. 1 RB will be at Ohio State for a multiple-day visit

In mid-December, the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to 2023 Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh running back Richard Young. While the offer from Ohio State was one of over two dozen for Young, he left no doubt it was a big honor for him and he was very interested in Ohio State. That interest is mutually strong.

“I’m talking to coach (Tony) Alford all the time,” Young told Bucknuts after landing the offer from the Buckeyes. “He gets in contact with my coach and I call him. I’m talking to Ohio State a lot. Ohio State is definitely one of the schools recruiting me the hardest.”

Next up for Young will be a visit to Ohio State. Young posted his upcoming visit this morning on his Twitter account.

“I will be at The Ohio State University June 9-11 for an unofficial visit,” Young posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

Young currently has over 30 scholarship offers. In addition to Ohio State his offer list includes Georgia, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, and many, many others.

“LSU, Georgia and a couple others,” Young has told Bucknuts when asked who else besides Ohio State is recruiting him the hardest. “But Ohio State is recruiting me the hardest.”

The 6-foot-0 and 190-pound Young rushed for over 900 yards and 12 touchdowns in nine games during his sophomore season where his team lost in the second round of the playoffs. In one game Young rushed for 242 yards on just 13 carries.

Young isn’t ready to name his top schools, but Ohio State will be one of them when he is ready.

“Ohio State is most definitely a top school,” Young said. “I’ll probably come out with my top schools after my junior season. I want to stay patient. Ohio State will definitely be on there.”

Young watched the Buckeyes in the national championship game on Monday night.

“I watched the whole game,” Young said. “If (Trey) Sermon didn’t get hurt it would have been a good game. They just have to come back stronger now.”

Young is a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s No. 18 overall 2023 prospect, the No. 1 running back and the No. 5 prospect in Florida.
