LCSO deputy beaten while making an arrest in Lehigh Acres

Two suspects have been arrested after a Lee County Sheriff’s deputy was filmed being beaten while trying to make an arrest.

The LCSO took Diaundra Brown, 23, of Fort Myers, and Jezan Deralus, 21, of Delray Beach, into custody after deputies say the two were involved in an arrest turned violent at the Speedway on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. A viewer video of the incident. In it, you can see the deputy alone and struggling to get a woman, Brown, inside the patrol car. A man, Deralus, can be seen standing nearby, seemingly speaking to the deputy.

The struggle between Brown and the deputy goes on for at least 90 seconds, until Deralus steps in and gets involved. He swings at the deputy’s face and starts hurling punches at him. As the altercation goes on, Brown can be seen getting out of the patrol car while still wearing the handcuffs.

The video then pans away for a bit; once it pans back, the deputy is seen using his taser on Brown, who falls face-first onto the concrete. The deputy then tases Deralus on the ground.

Deralus faces charges of resisting an officer with violence, battery on an officer and a moving traffic violation—driving with a revoked or suspended license. Brown faces charges of resisting an officer with violence, battery on an officer and use and/or possession of drug equipment.
