A man was critically injured after his SUV went into a canal in Lehigh Acres Thursday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old Lehigh Acres man was traveling north on Sunshine Boulevard North, approaching Alice Place around 10:10 p.m. He failed to negotiate the curve left, and his vehicle traveled off the road to the right, entered a water-filled canal.
The SUV came to rest submerged in the canal, and the man was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.
