Did you know that since Joe Biden was elected, more Cubans are floating their way to Florida?
Not only has the U.S Southern border seen swelling with those seeking to enter the United States Illegally, an influx of Cubans as well have been floating their way seeking to enter here as well.
For decades now, Cubans have been seeking refuge in the United States since Fidel Castro established the island nation as a Communist-dictatorship. Most Cubans over the years have used boats, or any kind of floating device in attempts to get to the United States. Some have drowned during their voyage due to rough seas, and or rough weather such as storms. The trek is approximately 90 miles from Cuba to the most Southern part of Florida.
Joe Biden while Vice President during the Obama Administration was part of loosening the “wet foot, dry foot” policy towards Cubans arriving here unlawfully. Since Biden took office as President just last month, he has reversed course of completing the wall construction on our Southern border and is also now allowing Illegal Immigrants to remain in the U.S while waiting for their immigration hearing which is usually set anywhere from two to 5 years from their arrival. It is expected that Biden will be welcoming all Cubans into the U.S with the same open attitude as those arriving illegally on the Southern border.
According to some immigration experts, word of Biden’s reversing course from Trump’s stance on illegal immigration has travelled throughout the world including to Cuba. Only Biden and his administration know what the final policy will be regarding Cubans coming here will be, but those same experts are expecting Biden and his immigration policies to mirror much of the Obama administration decisions.
