The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District welcomed two new Fire Engine Pumpers to our fleet during a Housing Ceremony at Station 105 this morning!

Engines 102 and 105 are 2019 Sutphen Custom Pumpers and will be the first in Southwest Florida featuring a clean cab concept, which includes modifications to the storage locations of contaminated apparatus.
These new engines are replacing 2006 and 2007 engines that will now serve as reserve apparatus.
The Housing Ceremony is a tradition dating back almost 200 years to the days of horse-drawn pumpers. After the Engines receive their “first bath” and are blessed by the Chaplain they will be pushed into the garage bay by the firefighters, signifying what crews had to do when horse-drawn apparatus was used.
