La Valentina closes temporarily

A second Lehigh Acres restaurant has had to shut down due to high-priority violations in January.
Inspectors temporarily closed La Valentina Mexican Restaurant, 5781 Lee Blvd. No. 305, following a Jan. 21 inspection. They found seven live roaches behind a prep table and on a shelf next to the sink. A stop-sale was issued on beef and pork stored at improper temperatures, and raw eggs that were stored over peppers in the reach-in cooler. Inspectors also found an accumulation of a mold-like substance in the ice machine, and the hand-washing sink was being used to hold bags of shrimp.
La Valentina was inspected again Jan. 22. Time was extended on nine violations, but the restaurant met all other standards and reopened that day.
El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant, also in Lehigh, had to close temporarily Jan. 9. It reopened the following day after passing a followup inspection.
