Charles Edwards, the President Lehigh Acres Community Council is threatening a recall of the fire commissioners (Bennett, Kruse, and Sherman) for their offering to renegotiate the contract to give certain fire dept employee’s more of our tax dollars.
Commissioners Sherman’s husband that works for the department has received three raises in the past 18 months. And she also signed the bargaining contract with the union.
At the end of Edward’s comments, he told the fire commissioners they cannot be trusted anymore.
Other breaking news — Fire department paid $80,215.41 to the Supervisor of Elections for the failed June elections. This does not include the amount for attorney and consultant fees used for the election. The total bill nearly $150,000 of taxpayer money.
The Lehigh Acres fire commissioners seem to think that the residents of Lehigh Acres are totally available to have their pockets picked. A complete re-evaluation of salaries and all others forms of compensation needs to take place, there is too much arrogance.
When there are no applicants for the fire department, the salary is too low. When applicants are knocking on the door the salary is too high.
A change of leadership (recall), will put the tax payers of Lehigh Acres back in charge, they are the final authority.
