SR 82 Road Widening Project from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29 Public Meeting October 10, 2019

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a preconstruction public meeting about the SR 82 Road Widening Project from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29.  The FDOT’s contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, begins work at the end of the year 2019 to widen SR 82 from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29 from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, while allowing for a future six-lane roadway. Additional improvements include construction of 5-foot wide paved shoulders, which will also serve as bike lanes, a 54-foot wide median, a 10-foot multi-use trail along the south side, and a 5-foot sidewalk along the north side. The project also includes changing the intersection at SR 29 from a stop condition with flashing beacon to a roundabout.  The cost of the project is $29 million and the estimated completion is end of summer 2022.

FDOT will hold this meeting to give interested people the opportunity to review displays and talk one-on-one with staff.  The neighborhood public meeting “open house” is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the University of Florida IFAS Agriculture Research Center located at 2685 SR 29 North, Immokalee, Florida 34142.
