In response to recent constituent complaints and concerns regarding homeless people harassing them at local shopping plazas and the illegal dumping of trash, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies increased patrols in affected areas in Lehigh Acres and offered referral information to those in need of food, medical care and/or shelter.
LCSO East District deputies continue to document wooded areas of concern and are working to assist with cleanup and trash removal.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies met with members of Lee County DOT, as well as inmate work crews, to begin the cleanup.

I’m interested in finding out more information. I’m trying to get a group together at my church to go out and help the homeless in camps. Trying to find them is difficult. We want to help with food and help with first aid if they have any wounds.
Contact the Sheriff’s substation on Homestead Rd talk to the the captain in charge of the substation he should be able to point you to the right direction on where the camps are or someone that knows where the camps are.
Michael contact the Sheriff’s Office on Homestead Road the captain of the substation should be able to tell you where the homeless camps are or someone that would have that information.
I’ve personally never had a problem with homeless people bugging me at shopping plazas. Are they there? Yes but they usually politely wait for people to bring them stuff. We don’t know these peoples situations but unless they want help just leave them alone.
