Tens of millions of dollars in property is being held by the state, waiting for the owners to claim it.

Unclaimed property can range from extra money paid to a utility company, to money left leftover in a bank account you thought you had closed years ago.

Examples:

Lehigh Acres Fire Dept has five accounts listed 14732106, 127415773, 117447642, 100144453, and 117600395, could be 100’s or 1000’s of dollars

Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce has two accounts 119790399 and 122162783

Lehigh Regional Medical Center has nine accounts in the system.

Lee County, in general, has over 100 accounts that they could collect.

It’s easy to find out if you have any unclaimed money. You just have to type in your name and confirm your identity by clicking here

Then, follow the steps below recommended by the Florida Department of Financial Services:

  1. Check the official website and fill out the claim form via the state. It’s free.
  2. Fill Out All Forms. Read carefully, fill out completely and sign your claim form. Each claim form will detail the documentation you are required to provide. The required documentation will include (but may not be limited to) a copy of your current identification reflecting your current mailing address and documentation proving your ownership of the account. Please refer to the claim form for the specific documentation required for your claim.
  3. Drop in the Mail. Mail the completed claim form with the required documentation to the address indicated on the form.
