Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help tracking down one or more suspects who are responsible for well over a dozen car burglaries in Lehigh over the last few weeks.
Detectives say there have been 15 or more car burglaries throughout Lehigh, with most of the cars left unlocked. During one of the most recent break-ins, a handgun was stolen from the center console of a truck parked in the driveway of a 24th Street W. home. That car, too, was unlocked at the time.
“Car thieves are having a hay day of late, and unfortunately residents are making it easy for crooks to easily get in and out of the vehicles with stolen items,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “The easiest way to keep yourself from being targeted by thieves is to lock your car doors every time and to not leave valuables in the car – even if they’re not in plain sight.”
Surveillance cameras from one of the recent break-ins captured an image of at least one of the suspects believed to be involved with the recent rash.
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the Lehigh car burglary suspect or suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip through the P3Tips app.
We were the ones with video surveillance. As well we captured at least 4 suspects. They stole my young grandsons brand new bike tried to break into my son’s truck. They hit many of of neighbors cars. As well on 46th St SW. We called sheriff out about 8 am Jan 12th. It’s sad that these links can steal anything. But to steal my lil grandsons new bike all he wanted for Christmas and my grand kids have been thru so much bad all their lives. My husband and I have been raising them for 3 years to give them a better life and some low life loosers steal the most important thing he got . from secret Santa with the help from the great people at their school Treeline Elementary. I wish we could catch them. Before anyone else does. Stealing is AWFUL. But stealing from my grand son was a message stake. Having to see that little boy in tears. Makes my whole family so angry
