Ray and Anita Westberry’s 50th Anniversary

Ray and Anita Westberry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 2016. The couple married at the church of Christ in Clewiston, Fl. Ray moved to Clewiston from Savannah, GA. He was employed by Dixie Crystal Sugar and was transferred to Clewiston to open Everglades Sugar Refinery. Anita was born and raised in Clewiston. They have two children. Danita Thomas (Patrick) lives in Estill Springs, and Larry Westberry (Kim) lives in Lehigh Acres, FL. The couple’s grandchildren are Alan Clifford, Amanda Clifford, Trey Westberry and Samantha Westberry. Another grandson, Ashton Thomas, died two years ago in a traffic accident.

The couple and their daughter and family moved to Manchester, TN in ’97 from LaBelle, FL. Anita’s mother, Onetta Parrish moved with them. She passed away four years ago at almost 94. Anita and Ray both worked at the City Schools until their retirements. They attend the Hickerson Station Church of Christ.

Now that they have retired, they live in Manchester for six months and spend the colder months in Lehigh Acres, FL where they attend the Lehigh Acres Church of Christ.

The couple’s children and spouses gave them a celebration party at the Lehigh Church of Christ on Nov. 18th. In the picture, they are standing in the same spot where they were married 50 years ago.
