FGUA Projects in Lehigh Acres

Current Capital Improvement Projects

  • Water Meter Replacement Project

Siemens Industry, Inc., Building Technologies Division performed an in-depth  energy audit study of the Lehigh Acres plants, process equipment, HVAC, water, lighting and miscellaneous electrical systems.  The system was analyzed for potential improvements resulting in energy and cost savings as well as improved performance and relatability.  Their recommendations have been approved and are in the process of being implemented.

As part of this project the FGUA will be replacing the Neptune T10 meters currently used to Neptune Analog with a combination analog with a transmitter for automatic meter read.  This will allow for reads to be collected via radio transmission in real time.  This project is scheduled to commence in January 2017 and be completed by June 2017.  Not only will this streamline to process of collecting water usage data, it will also provide customers with access to their real time usage data. More details to come.

  • Homestead Road Improvements

The Lee County Department of Transportation is executing a project to widen Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres from two lanes to four lanes. As part of this project the FGUA is required to relocate both a 12” water main and a

12” force main from under the proposed pavement location.  The FGUA will be relocating approximately 10,000

linear feet of water main and 4,100 linear feet of 12” force main.  The service lines will be relocated prior to the road project being constructed and will span from the Leeland Heights intersection to Sunrise Boulevard.  HDR Engineering Consultants Firm is contracted for project design with an engineer’s estimate  at approximately

$2.4M.

This project will be put out for bid as an alternate to the Lee County DOT project bid.

  • Leeland Height Boulevard Improvements

To  accommodate  a  Florida  Department  of  Transportation  project  to  provide  drainage  improvements  along Leeland Heights Boulevard East from Georgia Road to Richmond Avenue North, the FGUA will be relocating sections of force main and water mains to mitigate conflict with the proposed drainage improvements for the entire project corridor.  The project spans approximately 6,000 linear feet and will consist of relocating sections of

8” AC water main and 16” force main.  Johnson Engineering, Inc. provided project design with an engineer’s cost

estimate of $99,343.20.  An executed Work Authorization awarded to US Water/Wade Trim, LLC for $85,275.00 to complete the work.

This project is underway and currently at 50% completion.
