No Zombicon This Year “It’s Canceled”

ZombiCon will not be held this year period, according to a PR company for Pushing Daizies, the event organizers.

Why the event that typically draws about 20,000 to downtown Fort Myers was canceled or when the decision was reached is still unknown at this point.

Zombicon is a charity event that supports local art and music, however, a shooting occurred at last year’s function on October 17th which killed 20-year-old Tyrell Taylor and injured six others.

Hundreds of tips have come in to try and help find the shooter but no arrests have been made.

A total of $36,000 is on the table for anyone that provides a tip that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information, including photos and video from the scene, is asked to call the Fort Myers Police Department at (239) 321-7700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

Because of the shooting, cameras were installed downtown after it happened.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Although the city of Fort Myers told Pushing Daizies that ZombiCon couldn’t happen downtown for this year, organizers have checked out other possible locations to hold the event in Lee County, but no progress has come of that.
