Slide the City Update for the Lehigh Acres Event

From an email from Lee County Communication Director Betsy Clayton – The status of the Slide in the City event as of today is that the applicant has submitted their portion. Now the application circulates to various departments, such as Parks & Recreation, Risk Management, EMS, Sheriff’s Office, Lehigh Fire and etc.

There is no set timeframe by which the various departments must complete their portion of the application.

Ultimately the decision to approve or deny the application rests with Lee County Administration, Office of the County Manager.

Per ordinance (Lee County Ordinance No. 14-15), the applicant must provide proof of insurance. The liability insurance must be in the amounts determined by Lee County Risk Management. Status: The County has not yet received this from the organizer.

Per ordinance, the County has the discretion to require an indemnity and/or performance security bond for an event. The bond indemnifies Lee County against any and all claims arising out of preparations, conduct or aftermath of the event. Status: County staff is discussing whether to require this for this event.

Per Lee County ordinance Slide the City could be in violation, per the ordinance, applicants cannot pre-sell tickets. Ordinance reads, “No person, corporation, partnership, or other organization may advertise, conduct, maintain, or sell or furnish tickets for an outdoor concert of event in Lee County unless and until that person or entity has obtained a permit from the County.”
